So for most of the episode Frank is convinced Wes murdered Rebecca, and Annalise sets up various situations to determine if Wes murdered Rebecca or not (including telling him Rebecca was staying at a motel). Around the time she's convinced Wes didn't murder Rebecca, Laurel goes to Frank's home to question him on her theory that Rebecca is dead since she hasn't gone to the cops. This of course leads to Frank telling Annalise he now believes Laurel murdered Rebecca, but Annalise has figured out who really murdered Rebecca...I'll reveal in a bit...but before that...
Connor is still with his boyfriend, Oliver, and moved in with him. Michaela seems to be starting a quest for new love, though she still doesn't show much love to Laurel after finding out she hid Michaela's engagement ring to keep her from going to the cops. She sent a message to the person Rebecca texted on her phone, and while the group was out dancing with Annalise the person texted her back, but not enough for us to have much of a hint of who the person is. Asher is being a bit stand offish with Bonnie, even after the others get him to admit they are seeing each other...putting their relationship out in the open. We later see that the prosecutor in Nate's trial for the murder of Sam is blackmailing Asher to give her information, putting him in an awkward position with Bonnie. In the scene the prosecutor asked Asher if he's seen the woman in a picture she was holding up...his response...yes, at Annalise's house.
Who's the woman in the picture? Well, remember when Annalise gave Nate a note telling him to fire his attorney and call the number on the note? The number was to Eve Rothlow, the woman in the picture. She has experience exonerating prisoners on death row. Why else did Annalise recommend her...they went to law school together...and they were lovers before Annalise left her for her therapist turned husband, Sam. Given she and Annalise hadn't talked to each other in years, and Annalise didn't call to tell her Nate was going to call her, she shows up at Annalise's home (which goes against Annalise not wanting them to be connected...hence she didn't call her about Nate). Eve was convinced Nate and Annalise killed Sam, but Annalise told her Nate was innocent and she knew who killed Sam but was protecting them. So Eve meets with Nate, who explains to her he doesn't trust her because she was recommended by the woman who framed him for Sam's murder, Annalise. Hearing this, Eve left, deciding not to take the case. Nate called Annalise believing this was all a part of Annalise's plan (leaving him without an attorney) and said even if he does go to jail he's going to take her down with him. Later Annalise goes to Eve's home where they rehash their past, but then end up kissing. And later we see Eve representing Nate in court.
In this episode Annalise tasks the team with stealing the case of a set of adopted siblings accused of killing their billionaire adoptive parents. Laurel and Bonnie setup their attorney by providing a tape of the star witness, their aunt who claimed to see them running out from the scene of the crime, at a spa at the time she supposedly witnessed them running out. The defense entered the tape as evidence, but later the prosecutors show that the tape was from the prior year and suggest that the defense attorney cropped out the year on the time stamp. Doesn't take long for him to realize Annalise and team set him up to make the defendants drop him as their attorney and hire Annalise. Apparently it works, because in a 2 month flash forward scene a gun goes off in the the home of the siblings, Wes runs out, and Annalise is laid out inside the home seemingly bleeding to death while she narrates over the scene that murderers are usually people you know well like lovers (interesting choice in words given right before the flash forward scene Annalise and Wes were dancing together at the club she took the students to). And I should mention prior to the flash forward scene the aunt was found dead, and shortly after the brother comes in from a run (mhmmm...what else did he do on that run) and briefly chats with his sister who was painting a picture of their parents.
And finally, Rebecca's killer is...BONNIE! She claimed she did it for Annalise, but Annalise told her she did it for Sam and is now a monster just like him!
