Get Hard Review

Wow! I'd trade Ride Along, Ride Along 2, AND Wedding Ringer to get another Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart movie!! This movie was hilarious! Something I could not say about Kevin Hart's last few comedies.

I went into this movie expecting another let down. A movie with some laughs, but mostly flat jokes. What I got was the complete opposite. In the beginning, I thought maybe it was just going to be Will Ferrell. He was typical Will Ferrell...think Step Brothers (which got a shout out/reference within the first ten minutes of the movie...will you spot it?). And yes, that includes male parts being exposed. It's Will Ferrell...

But then all of Kevin Hart's jokes were hitting too! They were both hilarious in their own way and they were perfect together! I mean, there were tears in my eyes.

Funniest moments...Kevin Hart playing multiple characters on the "yard." Unfortunately, this scene ran a little too long, and the perfect comedic scene turned into something overdone. Womp, womp. But it was so funny, it didn't take much away from the scene. When Kevin reenacted the scene from Boyz N the Hood (Riiiicky!!), I thought Kevin was Cuba for a moment! Flashback, forreal!! LOL! So many funny scenes though. Towards the end they even hit up a little bit of The Last Dragon! Ricky Bobby hit 'em with that Sho Nuff Glow! HAHA!

T.I. was also in the film. Now, if you ignore the fact that the leader of the Crenshaw Kings in L.A. has a southern accent, you'll enjoy T.I.'s character as well. He did a good job. As did the rest of the cast. And I even appreciated Will's character's commentary on hip hop, delving into embracing the tapestry of the culture without trying to appropriate it.

This movie is pure comedy, but don't come for a plot and twists. I knew who the bad guy was as soon as his character appeared on the screen, and you probably will too. And no, Will and Kevin's characters won't figure it out until the end. There's no big twist...there's no significant story line tied to solving it...or even explaining how it happened. And that's absolutely fine! This movie was all about Will and Kevin being hilarious and feeding off of each other, and they killed it!

For what it was...I'll give it an 8.5! I'll ask again, can we get another one instead of Ride Along 2?? LOL

Yep, I already named the sequel! Get HardER! HAHA!
